rare moment wherein we displayed wisdom in parenting

Setting: after a couple of days during which I allowed stress to get the best of me, we are sitting on the couch, looking at our perfect, sleeping baby, and I am realizing that life is just way to short to think about anything but how blessed I am, or let mistakes in life cast a shadow over this perfect, untainted little baby who deserves the absolute best from her parents.

As if he read my mind, J broke the silence: “Even if we get everything else wrong, let’s always be our best for her.”

Then he paused, and not one to dwell on the serious or sentimental, added : “considering it’s our job to keep her off the pole…”
